Stage 284’s Young Adult Intensive is back for its second year! This program is designed to offer a full-scale musical theater production experience. The 9-week intensive offers a strong professional team to support our young adults as they work with challenging material and an intense production schedule.

The Prom: June 4 – August 6

Register below.
Age: 14-22
Rehearsals: Rehearsals will be held in the evenings and dates will be decided based on actor availability. In general we rehearse Sundays, Mondays, and 1-2 other days a week based on conflicts.

Description of show: Four eccentric Broadway stars are in desperate need of a new stage. So when they hear that trouble is brewing around a small-town prom, they know that it’s time to put a spotlight on the issue…and themselves. The town’s parents want to keep the high school dance on the straight and narrow—but when one student just wants to bring her girlfriend to prom, the entire town has a date with destiny. On a mission to transform lives, Broadway’s brassiest join forces with a courageous girl and the town’s citizens and the result is love that brings them all together. Winner of the Drama Desk Award for Best Musical, The Prom expertly captures all the humor and heart of a classic musical comedy with a message that resonates with audiences now more than ever.

It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical that is being led by Ms. Darbus.
