Stage 284 Auditions

Stage 284 is thrilled to be producing Sweeney Todd this Fall, 2022!

Sweeney Todd is Stephen Sondheim’s morbidly humorous masterpiece. The dark tragedy unfolds its twisty and twisted plot using brilliant lyrics and a beautiful score. The larger than life main characters will be backed by an ensemble playing the role of Greek chorus, as they implore the audience to “attend the tale of Sweeney Todd”. We will take advantage of the intimate atmosphere of The Community House to immerse the audience, paying respect to the shock and horror style of Grand Guignol theater.

Age requirement:

For this show, we are looking for actors ages 14+. There is ONE youth role (Toby) for an actor 12+.

*Sweeney Todd contains mature content, which may not be appropriate for all viewers.

TO PREPARE FOR YOUR AUDITION:

AUDITIONERS:

  • Please prepare 16-32 bars (60-90 seconds each) of a musical theater song that showcases your voice.
  • Auditioners may be asked to read from sides that will be provided. Please be prepared to stay for 30 minutes.

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:

Rehearsals will be held three times a week. The three evenings will be chosen once we know which days of the week work best for the people who are cast. Auditioners will be expected to provide a list of their conflicts on their audition form.
