How long have you lived in Hamilton or Wenham? 36 years

Tell us about your family – spouse, children, pets! I have been married to Jane for 38 years. Our careers both started with municipal bond market dealer firms. Ultimately the devotion to raising our two children, Libby and Taylor encouraged her to step back from municipal bond trading. She was a terrific mother not only to her children but to her step children, Adrienne and Chris. The time at home allowed her to pursue a longtime passion for writing. She published educational workbooks that focused on geography, folklore and historic facts of certain states and later was published as the author of “Currents”, a story about the adolescent lives of three girls in antebellum South, North and England. All of our children have successful careers. Chris, a high-end specialty carpenter contractor was Property Manager for the Community House in his early career development. He is the only child that is not local, living in Denver. Our house pet is Penny, a very active and extremely athletic Vizsla.

Educational background – where did you attend college? post-graduate? Degree(s) held. I grew up in Gates Mills, OH and spent my school years at University School of Shaker Heights and Hunting Valley. I hold a B.A in Economics from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME.

Professional background – current employer, areas of professional expertise, etc. I am currently retired, but spent all of my working career of 47 years in the municipal bond market business. I traded bonds and managed trading desks at various bank dealer departments in Boston. In the final 29 years of my career I headed a team of market analysts in establishing daily market yield levels for the municipal bond market. Our benchmark yield curves, called MMD (Municipal Market Data) benchmark curves were accepted as the market standard for daily trading, facilitating activity and price transparency along with providing historic price and intermarket/intramarket spread activity. This would encourage investment strategies and create market efficiency, allowing the municipal market to grow to nearly a $4 trillion industry.

Volunteer history – other groups or boards you have participated in. Length of service, titles/roles held. I have played minor rolls in volunteering for schools, church (First Church in Wenham), town sports and various municipal bond organizations. My emphasis has been as a board member for the Community House where I have been a member for nearly 30 years, serving as President for a few years.

Hobbies/interests: Golf, Maintaining two houses, kayaking

Fun fact about yourself: I summer mostly in Maine (Prouts Neck) and winter nearly 2 months in Naples, FL

What is your role/position on TCH Board? Co-chair Golf Fundraiser, Executive Comm

Why are you involved on TCH Board of Directors? To participate in community related activities and assist in keeping the charity financially viable. Serving on the board is also an important gateway to meet interesting and motivated residents of the Hamilton/Wenham area.
